This week on a special Sunday episode of CBS’ land of fireFreddy receiving big news has found time to play match(re)maker, while a mysterious new threat has emerged….
The catalyst for this Sunday’s post-AFC Championship game was a plane writing in the sky going crazy, blowing an engine or something and soaring towards the ground. The parachuted pilot was found safe and sound, hanging from a tree, but his plane exploded shortly after crashing, setting several fires on the mountainside.
Manny’s Three Rock inmates teamed up with Vince’s Station 42 crew to fight the fires, with the recurring concern being a home owned by Michael “Forever the Grey’s Anatomy Shooter” O’Neil. Despite pleas from Vince (and some unsuccessful PSYOPS from Jake and Eve), this Harlan Denbo insisted on staying put, instead tasking the fire department with protecting his home.
In the midst of it all, Freddy learned from Sharon that his pregnant girlfriend, Cookie, was on her way for a visit when she gave birth, but managed to make it to the fire station to deliver their baby (as we had witnessed it earlier).
Elsewhere, we met a new “nugget” (aka a kid of a Cal Fire alum) named Collin (played by Days of Our Lives/Y&R‘s Zach Tinker), who on the first day, in the middle of that plane crash fire, stepped on the wrong rock and set off a rockfall that nearly crushed some of Manny’s crew. Gabriela took the blame, lest her fellow “nugget” not be shaken fairly, but Collin ultimately pulled off the literal faux pas.
Upon realizing that Gabriela and others had already seen the baby he had yet to meet, Freddy parted ways with the crew and began to plot leads for the town, but Bode, as Bode watched Gabriela, convinced him to do the right thing and stay put. . Freddy’s persistence would pay off, when Manny later drove him to Leone Farm, where Vince and Sharon had offered to let Cookie and the newborn crash for the night, allowing the proud new dad to see and spending time with his little girl.
Speaking of Freddy: when he didn’t want to see his kid, he pushed Gaby to give Bode another chance (after Bode scared him by punching that biker in the last episode). In fact, before he left to meet his daughter, Freddy firmly advised Bode to go check his gear in the laundry – where Bode found Gabriela waiting for him. Bode pleaded his case and pulled Gaby into a passionate kiss. Gabriela broke away to say that they each need to put in some work and become their best selves, and once Bode has served his time, they can unwrap the “gift” that awaits them. But… a second hotter kiss suggested that they were both really, really down to unpacking things NOW, although Gaby had somehow pulled away from that second passionate clinch.
So Freddy is a new dad… we have movement on the #Bodiela front… Harlan’s house was engulfed in flames, but not before he put his sick wife and later/barely himself in security…. and Manny told Vince and Sharon he was going to do occupational therapy to get his finances in order and find a place for himself. That was the good news.
Somewhere in between, the question of who Sharon will receive a donated kidney from got complicated, seeing as Bode is a match and ready (but Sharon is reluctant to accept his offer), while Jake claimed he doesn’t. was not a match but actually IS.
And decidedly evil in front of the news? Closing footage revealed a stranger waltzing through the forest with a gas torch, mischievously setting off flames…. Too easy to guess that it is Collin, the “nugget” appearing at random? Or, maybe that inmate lawyer, causing a ruckus because she can’t have Bode?
What did you think of the episode “Two Pink Lines”?
