Rumors are swirling that Rihanna will bring out Taylor Swift in her upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show performance.
The Barbados native is headlining the highly anticipated Super Bowl LVII performance, which will be held on February 12, 2023.
This will be Rihanna’s first time on stage since performing at the Grammy Awards in 2018.
Super Bowl halftime shows are notorious for their surprise guests, so speculation is mounting that Rihanna has guest performers up her sleeve.
Will Taylor Swift perform with Rihanna at the Super Bowl halftime show?
There have been several hints that Rihanna will bring out Swift on her show and fans are abuzz over the rumor.
Here are all the clues.
A trailer for Rihanna’s performance included a reference to Taylor Swift that fans believe is a hint at a guest performance.
Rihanna released the trailer for her show at halftime, starting with the voiceover “It’s been 2,190 days.”
While this was previously assumed to refer to Rihanna’s long musical hiatus, Swifties heard something different.
Avid Swift fans noted that the same number appeared in Swift’s song “Glitch.”
The lyrics to “Glitch” read, “It’s been 2,190 days since our love breakdown.”
While the number may just be a coincidence, some fans believe the shared usage of 2,190 days is a hint that Swift will be joining Rihanna for her performance.
Taylor Swift is rumored to be performing at the Super Bowl before Rihanna is confirmed.
Before Rihanna confirmed her next performance in September 2022 — with an Instagram of her tattooed hand holding a soccer ball — Swift headlined.
Variety Magazine reported that Swift was supposed to take on the performance now that Apple Music is the show’s official sponsor — Apple Music was once the only streaming platform with Swift’s music.
Apple Music’s sponsorship comes as Pepsi ended its 10-year run as sponsor of the Halftime Show. Since Swift has a partnership with rival Pepsi Coca-Cola, fans speculated that the change of sponsor would free up Swift to perform at the show.
Taylor Swift has used NFL games in the past to promote her music.
Posting to Twitter on October 20, 2022, Swift announced that she would be sharing the trailer for her album Midnights during Thursday Night Football Q3.
In a video, Swift said, “If you tune in to Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime, I’m going to show a first look at the secret projects I’ve been working on really hard for a really long time, getting ready for the Midnights album. .
She went on to say that fans will see the work, if they log into the game, “before the Midnights album comes out.”
Her new connection to the NFL could mean she’s also involved in the Super Bowl.
Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour will kick off at the same stadium as the Super Bowl.
Swift has announced that she will be performing at 20 different NFL venues for her 27-date “Eras” tour.
The Eras Tour begins March 18, 2023 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The stadium, home to the Arizona Cardinals, is the same venue where the Super Bowl took place a month earlier.
Swift will travel to other NFL stadiums for the tour, in cities including Detroit, Atlanta, Tampa and Chicago.
She will end the US leg of the tour performing for two nights in Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium.
Taylor Swift wrote a song for Rihanna.
A joint Super Bowl performance wouldn’t be possible without some kind of collaboration, would it? Luckily, Swift and Rihanna have worked together indirectly before.
While dating Calvin Harris, Swift collaborated with the DJ on a song she wrote under the pseudonym Nils Sjoberg.
The 2016 track, “This Is What You Came For,” ended up being a Rihanna and Harris hit.
The under-the-radar collaboration could be another hint that the two pop stars could sing together at the Super Bowl.
